I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. May you and your families be blessed this holiday season. I would also like to share this little poem inspired by a recent trip to the supermarket.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Woman overheard talking on the phone in a grocery store:
“If I’m cookin’ Thanksgiving dinner at my home,
it’s gonna be my mom, my dad, and my kids. That’s it.
I’ll tell her, ‘Look you have a house.
I ain’t cookin’ for you in my little apartment.
Get outta here with that.
Cook your own damn dinner.’”
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Pam and Colin, Francis. I’ve just been looking, briefly at a few of the short documentary films you’ve done. I want to go back and see the rest and take more time to really enjoy them. You certainly have the eye and the touch for capturing and honoring real people, being themselves. I especially loved the one of Colin blowing bubbles. The sweet way he holds his mouth when he blows. As I remember with my children, it’s not an ability that comes easily at first.
As it’s late, I’ll keep this short. I especially wanted to ask you if there’s a way for me and for some book group friends to see your documentary about the real location for the filming of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” — Bedford Falls/Seneca Falls. Our group met last Saturday and the topic of “It’s a Wonderful Life” came up. When I enthusiastically told my friends about your film, they all were eager to see it.
Thanks for any information you can give. I realize it may not be possible to see it, but I wanted to try. It is such a good film and I know my friends would enjoy it!
Warmly,
Kathy
Thanks Kathy! I hope you are doing well. I will follow up with you via email. All the best, Francis.
